Birds Nest Cottage

A unique countryside getaway

Birds Nest cottage is set between green fields at the end of a quiet rural lane with a private driveway surrounding the property. Only a short walk from the cottage you can get a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape including the Cheviot hills, the Waterloo monument, the Eildon hills and on particularly clear days you can see as far as Duns and beyond, despite the fact Birds Nest cottage is only 5 minutes from the A68. You will be surrounded by nature on this working farm, with the nearest town, Jedburgh, just a 15-minute drive away. Birds Nest has a modern finish whilst still incorporating the traditional features of the detached farm cottage including the timber beams in the living room.

You can enjoy a cosy evening in the living room in front of the woodburning stove whilst you read a good book or enjoy a movie on the smart tv. Birds Nest can accommodate up to four guests with two bedrooms upstairs; a double and king (which can conveniently be split into two single beds). Downstairs the bathroom offers both a bath and shower as well as a heated towel rail to warm your towels whilst you relax. The well-equipped kitchen offers everything you could need, electric cooker with hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.

Sit in the garden and take in the surroundings enjoy a meal at the picnic bench and appreciate time with family or friends away from everyday life.

Testimonials

In nearly 10 years of cottage holidays it is not often that I return to the same place – Bird’s Nest is one of the exceptions and will most likely see a further visit in the future. A detached property in a rural location where wildlife and farm animals are the closest neighbours. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped with the owners nearby should they be needed. An ideal place just to get away from it all and also as a base for travelling further afar.

We have stayed at Birds Nest Cottage twice and enjoyed it so much we are going back for a third time. It’s a very quiet and peaceful location. The cottage itself is cosy and has everything you need for a comfortable relaxing holiday. Our hosts were excellent and make you feel very welcome. The surrounding area has lots to offer. Jedburgh, Kelso and Melrose are worth a visit Recommend the Birds Nest and surrounding area.

This is our second stay in this delightful and cosy cottage, peacefully set in the countryside with panoramic views over the distant Borders hills. Thoroughly modernised throughout and immaculately presented, the cottage is very well-equipped, and has full central heating with an efficient log-burning stove in the lounge. It is ideally placed to explore many of the Border’s towns and attractions.
Our hosts were extremely accommodating hosts and provided a warm welcome and guidance on many of the Border’s numerous options for days out exploring.
We can thoroughly recommend Bird’s Nest Cottage for those seeking a relaxing stay in a beautiful and historic part of Scotland.
